A Fantastic podcast!
Such an amazing cast and well scripted story with all sorts of time lines going on. You have to focus on every word to make sure you don’t miss a crucial part of the plot. It’s kept me company on my daily commute for the last 2 years
Fun, Hilarious and sentimental in all the right ways!
This podcast is such a great listen everyone! Seriously, the cast of characters is so unique and each one is performed wonderfully by the voice actors. The writing is top notch. Every week and season is a totally wild adventure!
Why does Joe sound like…
Sorry, but this makes listening to this podcast hella hard. Why does Joe sound like host Ira Glass from This American life podcast?! I swear they are identical sounding, it’s crazy!!! I hope someday they get together and talk. Crazy!!
Simply the best
I’m an avid audio drama listener, and I’m super picky. I have a handful of series that I would call my favourites and this has just jumped to #1 or #2. It’s brilliantly funny and original. I seriously hope this series keeps going for a long time. It has “Doctor Who” longevity potential.
A Review
Do you like podcasts that have a fabulous narrative which makes you reflect on your own life and decisions? If so, this is the show for you! It is a great comfort to listen to this show where characters tackle complex external and internal issues that with the help of their friends. You can tell that the characters care deeply about each other, even when everyone is arguing. This show is hilarious and heart warming, and one day it will leave me sobbing in a corner. Highly recommend
NOT a Christian podcast
I’m on S3 and still waiting for it to “get all Christian,” as many of the negative reviews say. Anyway, those people are losers who don’t understand mere themes and undertones, of which there are plenty that involve religion in an enormous variety of media. This podcast is unbelievably written and acted, and I can’t recommend it enough. My only gripe is sometimes episodes “glitch out” and skip parts or end early. Not sure if this is a product of the Apple app, but it occurs often enough to be a nuisance. Also, LOVE the guest appearance from Mark Healy, on whose show I heard about MB!
Wow, should I buy a stream service? No
Because you can always try I to fine a good, entertaining, and intelligent story driven drama that doesn’t involving explosions and pretty women or men, if you are into that, but likable characters who are actually “characters” and not fan projection of what they think is a character…about time.
Delightful!
I wouldn’t mind having my own booth in this diner; it’s a fun place to be -?even when chaos erupts and the end of the universe is nigh! Very good podcast. Wonderful universe and story.
Don’t judge this one based on the voices on the radio…
One of the main things I’ve seen in a lot of negative reviews is irritation around the Christian characters. But! I promise you, as a raging atheist myself, the two characters who consistently quote from the Bible are not what the seem based on quick judgements. Their dialogue only adds to the overall story itself, and is consistently met with resistance from the other characters. While the Bible is quoted often by these two, the way they are portrayed as televangelists makes their characters an amusing addition to a very diverse cast. There are quite a lot of Doctor Who-y vibes but with a feeling all on it’s own. I have not had a podcast make me genuinely laugh out loud in ages, but this one has already soared to one of my favorites of all time. I can’t recommend this one enough!
Season 3 has some of the best uses of SciFi
Season 3 takes big risks and experiments with their approach to storytelling and it pays off. "Big Rock" and "Your Mom" are fantastic stories that show what makes sci-fi such a compelling medium; they tell stories that could not happen in the "real world" to highlight core themes in the human experience. I really can't explain it without spoilers, but the mechanics of the sci-fi mumbo jumbo elevate the true heart and soul of the story. Midnight Burger may be a comedy, but it knows how to do good drama.
Fun podcast.
This is a super fun podcast that may have the best description of a taco ever spoken.
It should be 5 out of 5
I'm giving this five stars AND writing this review to say that 4.8 might be fine for WTNV, but Midnight Burger is the best fiction audio since Gunsmoke (1952), maybe even BETTER than Gunsmoke (1952). Who gave this less than five stars? Absurd. Self-crit.
Hilarious!
I loved this show! Just the right balance of funny and serious and each episode is just the right length! Really sad it seems almost over
Wonderful
I don’t exactly listen to these type of podcasts.. not really any scripted audio drama that is. this one quickly became one of my favorites. For every laugh there is… there is an equally profound moment that engenders some introspection. It’s well done from episode one. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t tear up at some of the deeper moments. I’ve seen comments regarding the ‘Christian aspect’ of it. That is merely a characteristic of a couple of characters, and they frequently use their philosophy to convey and translate ideas. I myself am a non-theistic person.. and the first couple times I was off put, but they actually bring a lot to the show. Especially given their circumstances as characters.
One of my all time faves
So inventive and fun, alternately hilarious and heartwarming, with well-acted characters who you really care about. Highly recommend!
The Best!
Funny and entertaining, nothing better online
Incredible! Perfect for Fans of Hitchhiker’s Guide, Star Trek, and Cheers
Midnight Burger is hilarious and interesting. There are actual big and original sci-fi ideas here, while still being a fast-paced comedy. You don’t often run into podcasts where the the sci-fi and the humor both are excellent. I love this podcast and am always excited for new episodes.
Favorite scripted science fiction podcast
This is by far my favorite science fiction podcast and my second favorite podcast overall. The writing is great, the characters are likeable and hilarious and I’ve learned a few new things (big bounce theory and gravity waves top the list). I highly recommend Midnight Burger!
Fantastic!
This show is FANTASTIC. Really great well thought out and explored characters and the deep, funny, thoughtful, wonderful, crazy adventures that will have you laugh and tug at your heartstrings. I wish I could put into proper words to describe the rare feeling I get when I can connect with a show and it’s characters that sticks with me throughout the month until the next weird and wild episode. It’s truly an amazing show with writers and actors just killing every show so please give it a listen if your a sci-fi comedy fan because I really don’t think you’ll be disappointed!
I’ve loved this show for years but…
This week’s episode was really messed up - the Yosef character is like a majorly antisemitic depiction. Like every trope about Jews and some straight up made up stuff - I’m fairly-versed in Halacha and Medieval Responsa and like there’s no mention of laws they made up for this show. Not to mention clear digs at Judaism and negative stereotypes of Jewish culture. The treatment of Jews in comparison to the treatment of Christians throughout the show historically is giving serious missionary vibes. Big yuck.
Favorite Podcast!!
I love everything about this podcast!! I’m restarting the entire season because I can’t get enough!!
Amazing!
Midnight Burger is one of the most creative podcasts I’ve listened to. The writing and acting is superb. I love being transported to this magical diner and I can’t wait for season 4!!
Love this podcast
Even though there are constant religious references, while I am an atheist, I don’t mind them. How good the podcast is plus the voice acting excuses it :]
